Sunday, 10 September 2023NewbeesChorley PanthersAway0-0A long awaited first game for the newbies today and a lot of preparation went into this game. The players were evidently nervous and took a while to get into the game but once they did some superb defence was on display and ended in a really tight finish. Both Judes tries were scored by Sam Y who also got the coaches award for his superb effort despite only training with the team twice.
Sunday, 10 September 202313'sAshton BearsAway24-14CHAMPIONS!!!!!

Judes and Ashton both left everything out on the pitch in this cup final, a gruelling contest that could of gone either way.

Judes got off to a flying start when Owen Anderson, playing his finest game in a Judes shirt, scored in the corner after some fine work in defence from Judes, Alfie English converted to make it 6-0. Shortly after Wiktor Pieda scored in the opposite corner after some fine passing involving Dylan Donnelly, Jamie Gaskell and Michael Sedgewick. Alfie English converted to make it 12-0.

Following this score Ashton rallied and scored a try following Judes indiscipline the score 12-4. Further errors from Judes allowed Ashton a prolonged period of pressure which Judes were able to hold out until half-time.

Ashton started the stronger of the second half pinning Judes in their own half, Judes did not help their own cause, making uncharacteristic errors, however a moment of brilliance from Judes own line saw Ellis Ramsdale bravely and accurately pass to Riley Atherton from dummy half which allowed Riley the opportunity to bust the Ashton defensive line and sprint the length of the pitch to score. Alfie English made it 18-4.

Ashton would simply not give up and scored soon after to make the score 18-8 and scored again to make it 18-14, to set up a tense finish.

Judes composed themselves, Ellis Ramsdale started to control the play the ball area making valuable metres along Issac Wright to March Judes down the pitch which allowed Jayden Crutchley to smash through the Ashton defensive line and score under the posts, Alfie English made it four from four conversions, 24-14.

The final whistle came, St. Jude's are champions!!! The lads and coaches celebrated wildly at the final whistle and well deserved to, many a drink (soft drink) was drank from the trophy which was evidenced by the pearlescent film from the inside of it.

Congratulations St. Jude's a well deserved victory and just reward for your outstanding efforts this season.
Sunday, 10 September 20238'sBlackbrookAwayNaA hot afternoon over at blackbrook saw judes up against a strong running blackbrook side.
It took a while to get into the game for judes but Theo Jones and Harry Schofield got the defence firing. Making some great tackles and keeping the opposition at bay.
In attack Christian Drench kept the lads going forward and the tireless Bradley Fasoranti was unstoppable scoring a bagful of tries by steaming forward.

A tough game in the heat and being back to school will hopefully put the team I good stead going into the back end of the season.
