Saturday, 17 June 20231st TeamEast LeedsAway10-32St Jude’s NCL side suffered a disappointing 32-10 defeat in their division 2 Clash away at East Leeds.
A late change of venue due to an unplayable pitch didn’t help the preparations, and despite a very encouraging opening 5 minutes, St Jude’s were unable to repeat their good form of recent weeks in this game .
The home side took control of the game with 3 first half tries to lead 14-0 at the break.
The second half saw St Jude’s get themselves back into game with 2 tries in a brief dominant spell from Reece Mcnally. 14-10
The comeback however was then derailed as the East Leeds side sealed the win 3 three unanswered tries in the final 5 minutes. Final score 32-10 to East Leeds.
Joey Brady was named the NCL man of the match. Other notable performers for St Jude’s were Kieran Rennox, Connor Parkinson, and Baz Rothwell.
Sunday, 18 June 202311's - MaroonsCadishead RhinosAway28-36Judes’ 7 game unbeaten streak came to end in a gutsy effort against a big and skilful Cadishead side.

Jude’s went into the game with no substitutes and despite not coming away with the win, the effort from all 11 lads was something to be proud of.

Cadishead took the early lead before Jude’s equalised with a try from Sam Charnock. Riyaz Khan added the 2.

Cadishead went over again but Jude’s were never going to go away as Brody-Lee Belshaw went in at the corner. George Ford added the 2.
Jude’s then took the lead with a try from Leo Wallwork and Jack Needham knocked over the 2 points to give Jude’s an 18-12 lead at the break.

Cadishead fired out of the blocks after half time scoring 3 consecutive tries and regaining the lead.

Jude’s showed great character though as Jack Needham pulled one back going in at the corner. Leo Wallwork added the extras leaving Jude’s just 6 points behind and the momentum in their favour.

The lack of interchange started to show though as Cadishead scored again leaving Jude’s 12 points behind with 5 minutes to go.

The boys never gave in though as Leo Wallwork went over with 4 lads on his back to give Jude’s a chance.

Unfortunately the boys ran out of time losing the game by 8 points.

There were a few deflated faces at the end of the game but the reaction from coaches and the parents told the story. Cadishead is a tough place to go, especially with only 11 lads and the boys can be very proud of their performance. Unlucky boys, onto the next one
