Saturday, 19 March 2022MastersArlecdonHome0-0Judes masters took on Arlecdon down at Parsons Meadow on a lovely spring day. The games was played in true masters spirit. Judes tries came from Shaun Hilton, Jon Gavin, Steve Makinson, Si Owens, Martin Fisher and Chris Drench
Saturday, 19 March 20229's - GoldsHeysham AtomsHomeX XAnother first for both teams today as we played the full match without any coaches on the pitch. Both teams took to the change well, which they can be very proud of.

With a full complement of players for the first time this season, we had to keep the changes flowing at the end of every quarter and kids did well to keep up the momentum through the match.

There's been lots of good spells of rugby today from both sides, with the away team taking an advantage after retaining possession and working up the pitch. Judes stuck to the task and forced their way back in to the match getting back within one score of the opposition.

Players of the match

Adam - Jayden for some great efforts in defence and some strong runs in attack.

Chris - Oscar, captain for the day after coming back from an enforced layoff, played really well and showed grit and determination when it mattered.

Michael - Archie, as someone who has been a different player since coming back from Christmas break, put in another strong and determined performance.

Opposition - Joey for a really strong performance in defence and attack throughout the match helping keep his team in the game.
Sunday, 20 March 202210's - MaroonsSaddleworth rangersHome22-38

A tough morning at Parsons Meadow against a strong Saddleworth side. Again, Judes were depleted with injuries but showed great spirit and never gave up until the final whistle. Special mentions go to Sam Charnock who's outstanding defensive display kept Judes in the game on several occasions. Tommy Gleeson went over for a hatrick and Blake wakelin received outstanding praise from all of the the Saddleworth coaches for his performance. Well done boys. Onto next week

A lovely sunny morning down at the meadow.
A full squad in attendance. We also had players switching over to the Lions squad as they hadn’t enough players. Well done to the players that volunteered to go across.
first half.
Limehurst kick off to Judes, Judes knocking on instantly, not a great start to the game. Judes responded and defended the set, Judes couldn’t break through the line, Limehurst scoring first and converting the try.
Judes ball, a struggle to get up field, just as Tommy Shaw broke through scoring a brilliant try in the corner. Henlea Baynham converting.
A knock on from Limehurst allowed Jayden King to scoop the ball up and go for a try of his own. Paddy Kelly converting.
Lions took Judes up the park, but Judes were too strong and kept them at bay. Judes next set took them to the otherside of the field but held up just before the line on the last set. Lions ball Jayden King put pressure on them and forced a knock on. Judes ball was passed out to Tommy Shaw, who scored his second in the corner. Conversion missed.
Lions wanted to score points they ran rings around the Judes defence, scoring a try of their own, missing the conversion.
Just before the half time whistle, Tommy shaw got the ball and ran the full length of the field, handing off the lions, scoring his hattrick. Thomas Atherton converting.

Second half.

Sunday, 20 March 202215'sWest BankHome16-18Judes took on West Bank at the meadows today knowing they would have a game on their hands .
1st half was end to end stuff with both teams showing some great skill but the 1st try went to Judes . West Bank came back hard and Judes matched it with some great defence but a penalty or 2 put Judes on the back foot and West Bank scored . Tempers frayed a little and a few handbags from both sides but then they carried on playing good rugby .
2nd half was much of the same but in the end it was West Bank who came out with the win .
Game ended 16-18
MOM by us Alfie T and Jaiden
Sunday, 20 March 20227'sThatto HeathHome32-32Jude VS Thatto Heath

Thatto heath start with the ball with some excellent runs taking them over the try line twice in the first 10 minutes excellent game play from the Under 7’S.

Jude’s turn to run with the ball and Jackson does a great run but is unfortunate to be caught. Finley P gets us past the half way line for Josh to take the ball and get us us so close to a try but he was just short of the try line.

Second half Carter does a fantastic run getting us past the half way mark, Harry M was exceptional and got us so close but Theo takes it over the line for another try from Judes.

Josh does another exceptional run and managed to get another one over the line for Judes.

Some brilliant work from the boys in this first game super tackling from Finley P, Josh L and Joseph S.
Sunday, 20 March 20227'sAccrington WildcatsHome32-32Judes VS Wildcats

Start of the game started very serious with a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors to determine who had the ball and Judes had the Upper hand and Joseph choose to start with the ball.

Some excellent runs from Harry M and he goes over the try line starting us off. Judes manage to keep the Wildcats out for now. Josh again with his speed and power does a excellent try saving tackle. Excellent play from the Under 7’s.

Theo does an amazing run and gets us within reach of the try line, Joseph tried so hard to get it over the line but just short of a few yards but he plays the ball and Carter takes it over the line.

Wildcats off to a great start with brilliant run and over the line he goes.

George S runs really, We are so close to the line. Theo gets the ball and off he goes over the line again. Excellent defence from Judes.

You can really see them starting to take form and really understand the game.

It was an early start today for our 2nd game of the season. After our match being cancelled last week we were eager to get back to playing.
