Sunday, 27 March 202211's - GoldsHalton FarnworthAway28-22Halton Farnwoth V Wigan St Judes Golds U11’s
A lovely sunny Sunday Judes travelled to Widnes.
Halton kicked of the game, Judes receiving the ball, they ran the ball well passing it out to Tommy Shaw who scored in the corner. Conversion missed. 0-4
Halton’s ball they passed it along the line to get it out to the wing, only to knock the ball forward.
Another set for Judes but they couldn’t organise themselves enough to get the ball out, A kick on the last from Jayden King, meant that Halton had to work the full length of the pitch to get the points, which they did. Missing the conversion. 4-4.
Judes again couldn’t get a full set without an error. Halton reacted yet again, scoring in the corner. Converting the goal. 10-4.
Judes had a complete set again, before Halton got the ball only for Judes to force the error and Halton knocked on. Judes ball and Tommy Shaw powered through to score a second try. Henlea Baynham converting. 10-10.
Half Time.
Judes kicked off to Halton, after a half time team talk, Judes knew that they had to pick up their game. Defence was key, they picked up their speed off the line, wrapping the ball up well. Judes did well to keep Halton in their own half, Judes started to look for gaps, a chip over from Jayden King, the ball bouncing perfectly for Henlea Baynham to run the field getting himself over the whitewash. Declan Haskayne converting 10-16.
Halton reacted, using their own techniques scoring straight away. Converting. 16-16.
Jayden King used his fast and fancy feet, running the length of the field, scoring straight under the sticks, Paddy Kelly converting. 16-22.
Judes were quick to force yet another knock on but were unsuccessful to get the ball out. Halton reacted scoring another try, getting the conversion. 22-22.
Neck and neck with not long to go, Max Lowe powered up the field and not allowing anyone to get hold of him, Halton managed to tackle him just before the line, quick thinking and fast feet Judes got the ball, quick pass to Jayden King, who passed quickly back to Max Lowe, who ran over the line for a well-deserved try. Will Cobley converting on the stroke of full time. 22-28.
Each player made a massive part in today’s game, they were all frustrated at times, but got the win at the end of the game.

St.Pats v St.Judes

Judes took on Pats away which was always going to be a great game and local Derby.
Judes started slowly, drop balls , throw away passes and not much communication making it hard for themselves straight from the off.
Pats tackled hard and tried to get past the Judes defence but Judes were in no mood to let that happen.
Then Judes broke the deadlock and took the 1st points , after that it was 1 way traffic for the scoreboard . Judes still came up against stiff opposition throughout the match but moved the ball easier and used their forwards well .
Judes kept their try line clean , tackled hard and grew in to this game well with the final score going Judes way 0-40 .
Well done Judes , keep up this performance or make it better
Sunday, 27 March 202216's - GoldsHalton Hornets Reds u16sHome18 -14Having been pipped at the post last week due to our own sloppy errors away at Latchford, the u16s were determined to get a win in the first home game of the season and what a thriller it turned out to be!

Both teams had long injury lists, both missing some key players and not really knowing how the game was going to pan out.

The Hornets opened strong against a lacklustre St Judes who just didn't seem to wake up in the first half. The line speed was off and the marker play, resulting in desperate scrambling at times and silly errors. Halton's impressive set took full advantage of the Golds unusual poor start and went over for three unanswered tries in the first half. Kicking just 1 of the three conversations saw them 14-nil up at the whistle.

Judes seemed to wake up in the second half and, although we weren't at our polished best, trusty half Taylor Kerr danced around multiple defenders before forcing his way over under the sticks for a massive individual try and a huge boost the the Judes lads.
Oliver Wright adding the two.

Judes simmered down once more and multiple errors forced some defensive magic from full back Austin Daniel to keep Judes in the game.
The last ten minutes saw Judes come alive and with some fantastic fast play and great ball work, Taylor Kerr found Austin Daniel out the back. Halton, distracted by some well timed dummy running, could do nothing to stop Austin diving over the line. Oliver again converting to put our boys just 2 points behind with 5 minutes to go!

MORE mistakes saw the crowd quieten down, convinced we may have seen the last of the Judes' action but, just when we thought we had run out of time, Malachi Price powered his way through 4 Halton defenders in a crash ball play to seal the points for the home team.
Oliver Wright converting 3 from 3 to make the final score 18-14 to our boys.

The meeting of these teams is usually a fantastic show, today both were not at their best, there were some moments of magic and, whenever we meet the Hornets, the scoreline is always one to keep the crowd holding their breath!
Unfortunately for Halton, we always seem to pip them in the final seconds of the game but, it must be said, they are a fantastic outfit with superb discipline and a great following.

MOM went to Austin Daniel who was as consistent as ever in both defense and attack. He certainly deserved to get over the white wash too.

Special mention to Taylor Kerr who seemed to turn the game around with his well worked try and George O'Loughlin for keeping one of the Hornet's scholars at bay throughout. A never ending defensive effort from G!
Oliver's boot made sure we sealed the win and Malachi's determination right to the end made sure the Judes' mums had an extra special Mother's Day!

Next week we travel to Cumbria to face Dalton in the cup. We are hoping for a much better performance from the lads next week.
Sunday, 27 March 202218'sBlackbrook BluesHome24-16Talk about a game of 2 halves! Judes spent a lot of the first half defending and a couple of soft tries gave Blackbrook the lead 6-10 at half time. It also saw Danny and Josh get injured, taking no further part in the game ☹ Blackbrook played more swiftly than us first half and had a better kicking game, really punishing us with high kicks. A moment of brilliance in the first half came from Callum S who took a drop out under the sticks, dribbling the ball 10m and being quick enough to collect his own kick, great vision. In the very last minute, Judes pulled a try back and a great burst from Callum S, got the ball away to Brook, who continued the move and swung the ball out to Daniel on the wing, who cruised to the line to score. A fantastic goal kick from Callum, saw us pull one back right on the stroke of half time.

Not sure what the team talk was at half time, but it certainly did the trick, I’d like to think Darron told them to do it for your Mums! Judes were out of the blocks in attack, spotting their fullback out of position and putting a long kick in and chasing. Callum was shoulder to shoulder with the defender, but unfortunately was denied by the ref for a push. Judes kicking game certainly came to the fore and this time Daniel was chasing a long kick, the Blackbrook defender got to it first, but Daniel trapped him brilliantly in goal for a drop out. A blistering run from Tom, who showed a great side-step to gain those extra yards, set the platform for our next try. The ball went out to Roman, who showed great footwork and darted through the defence to bag a try for himself. Blackbrook were next to score after being awarded a penalty for offside and attacked our line, our defence switched off momentarily when the hooker chipped through and was allowed to dart through and ground the ball. Those were the last points Judes were allowing their opponents and our fullback Jack Gallagher scored 2 cracking back to back tries, the first coming from a well timed link in the line and after throwing an outrageous dummy, cut through the line to score. The second was from the restart and a great individual effort to run almost full length with defenders hot on his heels, showing great speed and determination to make it to the line first. Judes managed to control the game until the final whistle and were unluckly not to record more points. 100% with the boot today our Man of the Match Callum Silcock nailed all his kicks and helped us seal the 24-16 win.

A very tough game of rugby today saw both teams out on their feet at full time, with the warmer weather playing its part in the contest. Can’t praise our lads enough, for the toughness and resilience they showed, especially second half to get back in the race and take a hard fought victory. Superb win for all and especially for the important women in our lives, that ones for you ladies! Happy Mother’s Day x
Sunday, 27 March 20229's - GoldsWigan BulldogsAwayX XThis morning was a much different match to the one we played just a few weeks ago before the season started.

We came up against a much improved Bulldogs side who played very well today and all their kids should be proud of their efforts today.

We started off well converting our possession in to tries and defending our line, completing a number of sets in a row. In the last part of the first quarter Bulldogs broke through and were thwarted by an excellent try saving tackle from Jacob.

The rest of the match was a pretty even encounter with both sides defending well and making breakthroughs for their team. At one point Bulldogs had drawn back level before some good attacking work from Judes made the difference.

Players of the match

Adam - Phoebe for showing great awareness and looking for options when playing the ball from dummy half.

Chris - Leo for an excellent defensive display and a great temperament throughout

Michael - Jacob for the best defensive display he's ever had, demonstrated by the try saving tackle he made in the first quarter

Opposition - Joey for a commanding performance with and without the ball
