Under 16’s

Bury Broncos

Home

34-24

Today was to be the final outing for Wigan St Judes under 16’s. In a second half of the season that had been heavily disrupted by poor weather, we had been lucky to get all our games in eventually. The game started with a mistake from Judes in their own 30 be that lead to pressure. Judes seemed to keep them out, but the ball got forced down on the last. The wake up call they needed. The game turned into an arm wrestle, but Judes managed to keep Bury pinned in their own 30 and before a kick got off, TJ intercepted perfectly to score under the sticks. From the resulting kick off, Declan made massive metres, which set up a great passage of play on the left between Cameron, Jake and Kian. It ended with Kian turning Bury’s defence inside out to go over for our 2nd. Unfortunately the rest of the half didn’t go Judes way and we went in at half time losing 12-16.
Judes started better in the second half and managed to get over early. They got a penalty and from the resulting penalty, good play down the right saw Rio barge over to get the ball down. Judes next try cane from another perfect read from TJ to intercept a pass and score under the sticks again. From that point Judes let it slip and let Bury get to within 1 score. But they weren’t going out on a loss. Judes put some great tackles in to force an error and Jordan picked up the ball to race 50m and score. The last try at under 16’s went to Kian. A huge play down the right edge saw Jake have Bury on the ropes. He kicked the ball high on the short side for Kian to collect and score.
Great way to end and brilliant team performance!!

Newbees

Orrell St James

Away

32 - 44

A tough game to end an entertaining series of matches for our Newbies.

A lot of good work was shown throughout the game today with passing and keeping the ball alive when it came loose.

There were some good attacking plays from Orrell that made the difference today. We've got a couple more training sessions before we break up for Christmas and move in to Under 7s next year but very proud of each and every one of them as they've been brilliant.

Coaches trophies today went to Archie and Logan.
