Saturday, 5 March 20221st TeamNormantonAway10-22Normanton Knights hosted a Wigan St Judes team boosted by the inclusion of ex Wigan players James Worthington and Shaun Ainscough but managed to keep them at bay, winning 22-10 thanks in the main to an excellent first half. The hosts built a 16-0 interval advantage. Stuart Biscomb scored first and was soon followed to the line by Jacob Crossland. Worthington was sinbinned for using some choice language and this didn't help St Judes cause. When Ashley Haynes crossed in the 29th minute and Joe Crossland added his second goal, Normanton looked comfortable. Early in the second half Joel Pell added a fourth try to make it 20-0 before Judes began their fightback. Connor Parkinson and Reece Matthews claimed quickfire tries and Danny Cassidy, signed in the close season from Ince Rose Bridge, kicked a goal. The Knights then made sure of victory when Crossland kicked a penalty with four minutes remaining.
Saturday, 5 March 2022A TeamWigan BulldogsHome42-0A great hit out for our first game of the 2022 campaign, with a convincing win against Wigan Bulldogs. Our opponents turned up with a sizeable pack, looking to battle it out down the middle, but Judes showed enough creativity to sniff out the gaps and exploit their line.

Judes secure a 10 point lead in the first half, courtesy of tries from Brook Waterworth and Declan Parkinson. The first coming from a spilled ball from the Bulldogs and Judes being first to pounce, shifting the ball out to Brook on the wing and Judes are on the score-board! Good defence today from Judes contained the Bulldogs throughout the game and a strong defensive effort forcing the Bulldogs player into touch, gave Judes the position they needed, and good hands down the line, found Declan in space to score our second, converted well by Callum Silcock.

Judes quickly wore the Bulldogs down second half, with our speed proving to much for our opposition’s defence. Some cracking break through tries scored, racking up a further 32 unanswered points. Tries came thick and fast, with a fantastic brace from Ben Ollerton and Luke Melling. An impressive off-the-cuff effort from Ben Jones who took a pinpoint chip over from Declan Parkinson on the fly and steamed off to the line to score. Our final points came from our Man of the Match Tom Hillyer, who produced a well worked move with our hooker, starting the move then taking a cheeky inside ball to spin over the line and add another 4 pointer right under the sticks. Five conversions today from Callum Silcock, who’d had quite a few tough asks right from the touchline.

Big shout out to Tom Ashurst who made his A Team debut today. Tom mixed it up with the big fellas in the middle and did an impressive job of wearing his opposition down, Well Done Tom. A superb start to our season with every team member looking strong and doing their bit for a triumphant first win. Wigan Bulldogs did have a late surge, but Judes showed great resilience to keep them out and maintain that impressive nil score-line, coming away with a huge 42-0 victory.
Sunday, 6 March 202210's - GoldsLiverpool LionsHome22 - 28After only 1 season playing as a team, today we moved up and played our first game in Group C. We knew our opposition were a good team and we had 4 players making their debut, despite this we were excited to wear our new kits and to play again after what has felt like forever.
Both teams were very strong in defence and we were level with each other throughout the game. We almost finished with a draw but in the end we lost by just one try.
Well done to everyone that played, you should all be very proud. Even the opposition commented on how well you all played and how impressed they were with your tackling and defence.

Sunday, 6 March 20229's - MaroonsWaterhead warriorsAway20/28Tough first game back, slow start but we pulled it back in the second half. Just not enough time to get the win. Lost 7-5 but all the lads worked really hard and all the training they have done , showed in the game. Great start to the season
