Wigan st judes 88 v 0 Leyland warriors.

A damp November day down at the meadow, saw the last game of the season against a beleaguered but spirited Leyland team.

The writing was on the wall from kick off, Leyland with only 11 players faced 11 in form judes lads. Judes play hard but always fair and with having plenty of players on put an equal size team on against Leyland.

Judes were quickly in to their groove and started to amass points quickly. Judes withdrew some key players to allow new players and debutants Dean Rouke and Cody Turner to gain game time and get more experience.

Even though the score seems that Leyland warriors were not a good team thus was far from it, the spirit they showed was reminiscence of when judes were in similar position.

Well done lads for this season, being loyal to team mates and sticking with Judes. With recruiting and rebuilding a quality squad, you have shown what the game is about and been rewarded with being crowned champions of the play off league.

With promotion into division 3 next season starts a whole new chapter for a great group of young lads.

Awards this week were hard so, every player was not only the man of match but also parents man of the match and coaches Award winners.

Well done boys!

Leigh MinersHome8 - 16
Today the lads hosted Leigh Miners in the final game of the season. It was looking like we finally had a full team then Elton ended up in A and E with a worrying leg injury and as a result we entered our final game as we have every other since the league fixtures ended, with lads missing!
The play offs have been far from kind to us. We've travelled with just 12 and 13 lads at times just to muscle through them but today was our best performance yet losing just 3 tries to 2 against our biggest rivals who was desperate for the win after we sealed the league with an unbeaten run and clinched the premier division title that everyone truly believed would go to them.
Our boys were winning 8-6 at half time and were looking like the stronger outfit and likely winners. The game took a turn for the worst when captain Oliver Wright was scratched in the eye which immediately began to close and took him out the game, shortly followed by Malachi receiving the same injury just minutes later!
This rocked our structure and allowed two tries that would have been prevented had the line up not been frantically switched and I felt the boys were on the end of some serious bad luck but, that's how it goes sometimes.
On the 17th of Novemeber the lads will be rewarded for all their hard work at presentation day then we move on to a huge pre season.
We are excited about what's next to come and are glad we took our injury plague after the title was in the bag!
A fully fit, aggressive and determined u14s Golds team will be up for anything after Christmas.
Keegan Boyd and Corey Roden shared M.O.M today for all round outstanding performances.
Taylor Kerr bagging Oppoonents M.O.M a fierce defensive display and Luis Houghton bagging Top Tackler at loose forward today.
Well done lads! #UTJ

Wigan St Judes 16 Accrington Wildcats 8

What a brilliant game of rugby on a misty morning in our first home game.

It was a game with good tackling technique, lots of teamwork and defensive organisation to protect our try line.

Defensive efforts from both teams in the first quarter led to no tries being scored. As the game continued it opened up for some tries to come through but Judes kept up the defensive efforts to keep the tries conceded to the lowest number out of the games we've played so far.

Defensive organisation is something we've been working on in training so it was great to see it put into practice today.
