Sunday, 1 May 202211's - GoldsCulcheth EaglesHome22-20Wigan St Judes Golds V Culcheth Eagles.
A misty Sunday morning, Judes welcomed Culcheth Eagles.
Both teams had a very limited pack, with some on holiday and some of the Judes boys playing in a football final.
The Judes boys didn’t help themselves at the start as they started off slow, Judes kicked off, Culcheth receiving the ball, they drove the ball up well, but didn’t manage to score, Judes ball and passing out wide giving it to Henlea Baynham scoring from an amazing run down the wing, missing the conversion.4 -0.
Culcheth responded by getting themselves up the field scoring a try and conversion. 4-6.
From a penalty of a high tackle, Judes were at the halfway line, Jayden King chipping the ball over brilliantly for Ollie Caddick to score in the corner. Jayden King converting. 10-6.
Judes were too sloppy in their defense, not meeting the team quick enough, again being too slow from their line, this then gave Culcheth room to move, it was TRY time for them, conversion missed. 10-10.
Judes responded to their lack of defense by shifting the ball out, sending Jayden King through the gaps, scoring under the posts, Max Lowe converting. 16-10.
Half time score – Wigan St Judes 16 – Culcheth Eagles 10.
Second half.
Culcheth kicked off, Judes couldn’t get up the field.
Culcheth scored an unanswered try, converting, 16-16.
A few of the lads were getting tired with only a couple of subs, but stuck to it, a few minutes had passed with no score. Judes got the ball and again passing it out to Jayden King, who ran it well, dancing through the Culcheth defense, sending him over for his second try of the match. Cameron Riley converting. 22-16.
With seconds to go, Judes allowed Culcheth to sneak in right in the corner, Culcheth hitting the posts, missing the conversion. 22-20
Final score Wigan St Judes 22 – Culcheth Eagles 20.
A bit sloppy throughout the game, but Judes came away with the win.

Judes 15s v Thatto

Judes entertained a big Thatto side today .
Judes coming off a few disappointing results needed to get the win today and right from the off they looked in the mood , scoring 1st and taking the lead .
Shortly after Judes scored again , this seemed to be the turning point were Judes now started making it harwork. Thatto weren't to be undone and brought the score to 20-12 by the half time break .
2nd half and Judes sat back , made it hard work for themselves yet again , dropping balls , penalties and some silly plays .
Never the less Judes ground it out with some hard defence, sometimes organised , sometimes scrambled but they got there
Final score was 26-18 in Judes favour , great win but we've still got things to work on

Sunday, 1 May 202218'sHalton Farnworth HornetsAway10-16Today we were down to a squad of just 13 players for our visit to Halton, this was going to be a tough ask for the lads.

The game was a stop start affair, with Judes being on the wrong side of the penalty count. Although Halton were the first to strike with points, Judes defence was immense, especially their goal line D after repeated penalty attack from Halton. Off the back of their strong defence Judes got their reward after a brilliant pin-point kick from Roman, was taken on the fly by Brogan, who’s timing was perfect to take the ball and drop and score. Successfully converted by Callum put Judes in the lead 6-4. Rest of the half saw Judes get sucked into a provoking arm wrestle, but Troy helped take charge with one of his many massive hits, making sure we finished the first half in the lead and gaining him the man of match award.

Judes came out determined, knowing they all had to play big minutes second half. Not long in saw Calum P having to leave the field, forcing Judes to play the rest of the game with just 12 players. This caught Judes on the hop and Halton went over under the sticks to put themselves back in front. We now had to play catch up rugby with 12 against 13 and what an effort by our boys, who after finally being gifted a penalty, showed some smart play, took it to the line and got the ball away to Brogan who snatched his second, bringing the scores level at 10 all.

The game was now in the balance, the next to score wins the match, unfortunately for Judes that wasn’t us today. Halton sealed the win off the back of a mistake, gifting them the ball and after a chip over, their extra numbers proved too much in the end as they go ahead 6 points. Judes did have a final attack after a Halton knock-on, unfortunately Judes do the same and blow their chance, sadly missing out on the win by a single try.

What a momentous effort by these lads today, no breathers for any of the players, playing second half with 1 man down and still competing in the entire game, super proud of each and every one of them. I want to give a shout out to Joe who filled in on the wing, ran hard and really helped take some of the pressure off our forwards. We stood up as a team and played for each other today, even though we didn’t record the win, there’s lots of positives we can take from that game. Well Done lads you should be proud, we dust ourselves off and go again next week!
