Back on home soil, after what felt like and eternity and the boys were ready to go. During he first half, the lead changed hands a few times. There was some good skill on show and we noticed lots of the finer techniques being used. The second half was very much like the first. A battle to the absolute end to find the winner. In the end we were behind by one score too many and came back too late. All the pieces are there, they just need to fit together consistently.
Tries...Liam Ryding...4 .... outstanding today, great metres and a clear eye for the line.
Declan Gregory 2...determination gets the tries for Declan. Very hard to put down. Judes 30-32 Crosfields

Our second meeting with Blackbrook in as many weeks, after knocking them out the cup. They would be gunning for revenge and it was Blackbrook who made the flying start and were the first to score. To be honest Judes had an uncharacteristic nightmare first 10 and just couldn’t find any momentum. After back to back penalties Judes did get going and Ryan Wood was over after selling a cracking dummy and shooting off to score. Our next points came after forcing a drop-out and good yards and off-load from Harvey, saw our captain Kalan Devine charging for the line and spinning out of the tackle to go over and score a great props try. We capitalised on a Blackbrook mistake and good hands down the line to Ryan Wood to score his second of the game. After another successful conversation from Callum Silcock, saw us in the lead at half time 16-6.

The second half started feistily, but Judes soon settled down and were hunting for points. Judes showed much better hands this half and let the ball do the work. A long ball out to Reagan Sumner, gave him just enough space to squeeze over in the corner for his first of 2 tries. The second one was an awesome solo effort, as he took the ball and continuously weaved in and out, to evade the defenders and score a superb try in the corner and an equally awesome conversion from Callum Silcock. Judes kept grinding the metres away and were in control of the game. Junior Nsemba got hold of the ball and just marched through the opposition line to plonk down at the side of the sticks to score our last of the game. Converted again by Callum, put us in a 32-6 lead and after trading sets, saw this midweek game come to a close with a comfortable win after our slow start.

Midweek games are always a tough encounter and a delayed kick-off didn’t help our cause. It did turn out to be a great game in the end, with some big hits, great passing a bit of feistiness! Great to see all the lads contributing to this game with good performances from the full squad. Well done lads and keep up the hard work!

With our original fixture being called off, the league managed to arrange us a cross-group friendly with Golborne Parkside. We wanted to treat it as a training game and move the kids into different positions to test their different abilities. Then disaster struck…Malick Niang fell down in the last run at training on Saturday and broke his wrist! The kids, and coaches, were all gutted but with Malick now out, Oliver Wright still out and Aron and Sam unavailable, we were going in to the game on a boiling hot day with one sub, John Tierney… who was making his debut! Not the situation we hoped for!
The kids really stepped it up though and managed to show some classy moves and a great defensive display in sweltering heat.
Parkside kicked off high and long but Aaron Bolton stayed composed staring into the sun and managed to take the ball from the air well, covering some distance and getting tackled on half way. The second drive from Elton Paplekaj was hard and fast, he sliced through the defence with ease, defenders just bouncing off him and then executed the perfect hand off on the Golborne fullback to go over under the sticks. A devastating drive from the Albanian wonder! Converted by Keegan Mobey 6-0
A great chase from the restart saw the lads pin Golborne into their own half, forcing a long kick that was dealt with well by the Judes backs. Some great hands saw talented hooker Tom Hill spread the ball quickly out-wide to Aaron Bolton. Aaron hit the line and looked certain to score but instead of taking any risks, Aaron noticed the overlap and whipped the ball out wide to a waiting Tyler Foster who collected it and dove over to grab the points. A great try showing good passing and great team work. Dylan Gregory adding the two 12-0
Again, our boys worked tirelessly in defence to keep Parkside at bay, hitting hard and winning the floor each time. A huge shot from big prop Malachi Leo Price saw the ball flying out on impact. Mal wasted no time and collecting the loose ball went in under the sticks himself with his first touch of the ball. Converted by Freddie Winnard 18-0
Another great drive from Judes Golds saw Elton Paplekaj over the white wash again. An outstanding kick off from Austin Daniel saw the ball standing up in Golborne’s in-goal area, slight panic from the Parkside backs forced an early drop out. The drop out was received well by Keegan Mobey who was tackled just 30 out. The second drive of the set was all that was needed to break the Parkside line. The Golborne defence standing off powerhouse Elton just a touch made it far too easy for him and he blasted through, unchallenged, to score under the sticks. The kick sailing just wide. 22-0
Judes defended fiercely from the kick off and refused to give Golborne any space to run, the talented Golborne fullback had no choice on the 5th and put in a long kick upfield to buy his side some breathing space. Unfortunately for Parkside, the ever-reliable Judes fullback, Austin Daniel, caught the ball with ease and weaved through the pack with a flawless return, scoring under the sticks with an impressive full-lengther to end the half. Outstanding. Converted by Aaron Bolton 28-0.
The lads were dead on their feet and with Austin Daniel injured and sat out for ten they were down to no subs in the unbearable heat. Golborne made great decisions and brought on a few fresh legs in the second half. Going over twice quickly as our lethargic line barely moved. Golborne deserved the score after relentlessly fighting on against our giant pack 28-12
Conceding two quick tried really shook our lads up and from the kick off a back from the bench Austin Daniel took control and again looked to complete the perfect return only to be ankle tapped just 10 metres out. Elton quickly dove down to scoot the ball and a scrambling Parkside defence could not quite get back in time to stop him pushing over for his hatrick. Great fast play from the boys. 32-12
The lads soldiered on and, although they became complacent at times due to the heat, they never stopped trying and managed to keep their opponents out again, holding them up over the line on the last! The big man then stepped up for only his second run of the game and scored another trademark full lengther from sticks to sticks. Two runs, two tries…You will do for us Mr Price! Malaki ‘Paddy’ Cullen adding the two 38-12.
The game ended with one try a piece. A ball out wide saw prop Jake Hare out of position but able to collect and crash over for Judes and a final try from Parkside to end a sweaty, hard, challenging match. 42-14
We certainly missed the lads that couldn’t be with us today but saw some extremely impressive individual efforts from those who played. An outstanding debut from John Tierney with great drives, fast feet and composure when under pressure. Tyler Foster, Keegan Mobey, Ryan Sweatman, Malaki Paddy’ Cullen and Freddie Winnard all stepped it up in defence and had their best tackle counts to date. All of the boys coming in more in attack too and making a huge difference when they did so. Tyler Foster and Aaron Bolton also excelling in their forward play with great support play, great hands and fast, dangerous movement throughout. Oliver Wadeson playing his longest stint and looking relaxed and focused and Dylan Gregory in a more central role stepping up with the big boys, Mal, Jake and Elton and taking the hard drives and even harder hits with ease! Austin Daniel controlled the game beautifully from the back as always, teaming up with hooker Tom Hill who had one of his best games yet with quick thinking in attack and huge, fierce tackles in defence.
The lads played for one another and their missing team mates today and although they had their moments (Who wouldn’t in such ridiculous heat?!) They pulled together and put on a good show for their parents and other support. When you have key players out you have two choices, heads down or step it up and our lads don’t know how to quit.
A great warm up for our cup match on Wednesday night! Well done the boys!
Get well soon Oliver and Malick!!

Today Judes travelled to Culcheth on a very warm Sunday morning.
Judes took the ball straight from the start and looked in an uncompromising mood.
Hard running and throwing the ball about Culcheth looked out of their depth. Judes defence was yet again very strong with some great D's and unbreakable lines .
Judes defence did fall to sleep once and the Culcheth attack made them pay for it but all in all it was a master class from Judes .
Very well played by Judes today . Onwards n upwards
