Sunday, 13 February 2022 | 16's - Golds | Blackbrook Royals | Away | 10 12 | Wigan St Judes u16s sadly bowed out of the National Cup this week following a superb game of rugby against current NWC champions, Blackbrook Royals.
A nerve biting game that was decided by a last minute penalty kick!
Both teams showed grit and determination in horrendous conditions and it was virtually impossible to pick a MOM!
A great display of junior rugby league.
Judes came from 10 nil down with two fantastic well worked tries from both wingers, Sean Makhaza and Lewis Topping, the later coming from a perfect chip over from the boot of Corey Roden. Only a penalty kick separating the teams. Special performances from captain Oliver Wright, Malachi Price, Taylor Kerr and George O'Loughlin and a deserved mention for our newest recruit Bradley Williams who got his first taste of Premiership action and didn't take a backwards step! Bradley coming from Division 4 to face the current North West champions on his debut! He didn't look out of place once. Well done Brad!
Well done lads. With the display today the season ahead is looking really exciting! |
Sunday, 27 February 2022 | 11's - Maroons | Chorley panthers | Away | 42-12 | The maroons travelled across to chorley on a bright Sunday morning and judes started fast strong scoring three well worked tries back to back but chorley showed some great defence and worked very hard to keep the maroons out with some last effort try saving tackles main thing was that both teams got a run out before start off the season and todays tries were scored

Sunday, 27 February 2022 | 12's | Woolston | Away | 6-38 | In what was the first league fixture of the 2022 season, St Judes put in a solid first half performance. The boys were strong in attack and aggressive in defence which led to Woolston making mistakes and conceding penalties. On the back of a penalty, Harvey Woolfenden cruised through the middle to score under the posts and give Judes an early lead. The try was converted by Layton Dewhurst.
Judes remained resilient throughout the first half and worked hard to stay in the game with Woolston taking a narrow lead before half time to make the score 10-6.
The second half was an altogether different performance with Woolston running in five unanswered tries and taking the win.
Despite the defeat, there were some very positive signs for the season ahead. |
