Sunday, 12 March 202310's - GoldsChorley PanthersHomeX XFirst match of the organised season for our kids today and they had new kits to show off as well as some silky rugby skills!

The defence today was outstanding from the off, forcing turnovers and errors from the start. We managed to go over the line twice before half time without conceding, although we didn't manage to convert the tries.

The second half was much the same with a lot of good defence, letting one try in but stopping many more attacks. We scored another two tries in the second half with good work on the wing and another from recovering a loose ball and making it over the line.

That's the best display we've had in defence and it's the fewest tries we've ever conceded in a match. Well done kids!

Players of the match

Coaches - Ronnie for a fantastic display, tackling anything that moved and making some great runs getting us up the pitch being rewarded with a try

Opposition - Joey for another brave display, leading the team as captain for the day and grabbing another couple of tries.
Sunday, 12 March 202310's - MaroonsWest Bank BearsHome10-38Was a tough day for Judes before the game started with only having 11 players available meaning no subs but they stood up to the test really well. The opposition was aggressive right from the start but we stuck to our game and didn’t let it bother us coming on the wrong end of a 10-38 score line with tries coming from Jacob and Stan and Dan converting. We cannot be prouder of our team today for the effort they gave and hopefully that is taken into the long season ahead. Coaches awards went to Jacob and Jack for how they ran and dragged their team forward.
Sunday, 12 March 202311's - GoldsShevington Sharks HammerheadsAway36 - 22The second game of the season and our first away game, took us to Shevington.
We started strong and only conceded one try in the first half. Some great runs and tries by Jacob Daven and a leap over the try line for Rhys Hilton saw us go into the second half with a 24 - 6 lead.
The opposition came back stronger in the second half. Despite this, we dug in and also saw a first try for Ian Monk.
At full time we finished 36 - 22 to us and very muddy!

Sunday, 12 March 202312's - GoldsPilkington Recs AmbersHome42-0
Judes welcomed Pilkington recs Ambers to the meadow this afternoon. A blustery day on the field, Judes kicked off to Pilks. A big first set of the game but on Judes first handle of the ball, Tommy Shaw took a run for the line and made it. Pilks stook in and fought hard, but the Judes boys backed up well defence. Archie Unsworth with his unreal super tackling skills getting the Pilks players in touch twice. A couple of handling errors from both sides, before Judes took it away and Tommy shaw scored his second of the first half. Alfie Jennings worked into some space on the left edge to cut inside to score his first try of the season. An amazing dummy came from Will Cobley sending him crashing through the posts to score his try.
Second half, Pilks came out fighting and had upped their defence, but so had Judes as well as attack, some great skills passing the ball out through the team sent Cameron Riley over the try line in the corner. A new set saw Paddy Kelly denied of his try from a forward pass, but Judes kept Pilks up on their own line, Henlea Baynham rounded off a fantastic show of grit as he burst onto a pass and through the defensive line to get the ball down. Pilks never gave up again some great drives, but Judes where on form in their defensive skills this afternoon. Tommy Shaw extended the lead with minutes to go as he registered his hat-trick to round of a fine 42-0 win for the Gold’s.
Special mention to Alfie Webster on his Judes debut, who was incredible in his game today and we can’t wait to see what more he can do as the season progresses.

Conversions: Will Cobley X 7.
Man of the Match: Freddie Davies
Top Tackler: Tommy Shaw.

Sunday, 12 March 202315'sLeigh EastAway18-28Today we saw our U15s take on Leigh east away at their place.

After a tough start Leigh east took the lead. The lads then turned it round with great defence from the kick off, forcing an error and getting the ball back. We then bounced back from a quick scoot from Brogan Bowker, stepping past a defender to fall over the line under the sticks.

The next 5-10 minutes was an arm wrestle. Strong defence from Jude’s kept Leigh in their own half. Massive mention to Alex wood tackling anything and everything that came at him. We then saw Brogan Bowker scoot again to cross the white line. 2 great kicks from Aaron Briggs saw us going into half time with a 12-4 lead. Leigh east then scored the first try of the second half. Then after an arm wrestle we forced an error in the opposing 10 and just like his hair, Brogan Bowker was on fire and another scoot saw him sail over for the hat trick. Taking us into the last 5 minutes of the game 18-10 up. Unfortunately we couldn’t hold this lead. Penalty after penalty saw Leigh march up the field scoring repeatedly and resulted into us loosing the game.

Great effort from the boys today very unfortunate not to come away with the win but we take it into the next one.

Honourable mentions to Brogan Bowker, Alex wood, Jack wright, Harrison Barnes, Tyrone Roberts who all had great games.
Sunday, 12 March 202318'sOrrell St JamesHome38-12Today we geared up for our local derby against Orrell St James. Even though the sun had made an appearance, we had to endure the very windy conditions.

Talk about a game of 2 halves today, first half was difficult as we played into the wind, which affected our passing and kicking, but we also didn’t start with our usual enthusiasm and headed into half time at the wrong end of the score-line. Brogan did throw us a life-line towards half time, when we got back to our shape and with good passing down the line found Brogan who is Mr Reliable at centre and can create a try when nothing looks on. This took us into half time 12-4 down, with a lot to change second half.

We started the second half with a least the wind behind our backs and Judes were immediately on the front foot when Orrell kick deep forcing Jack back to collect the ball, he’s caught in our in-goal, but instead of dying with the ball, he cleverly off-loads to Ethan in our in-goal, who set off, skimmed the winger and full-back and ran the entire length of the field to score a rapid try, pulling us right back into the game. This was the start of our resurgence in the game and Rohan came on at 9 and immediately broke the line and ran past defender after defender and almost went all the way, but dropped the ball off to Lewis T who had a clear finish to the line to score. Our attack became relentless second half and we were looking to score off every set. A long kick over from Roman was followed by Ethan, who still had the energy to chase, unfortunately he had to watch it trickle over the side line before scooping it up. It wasn’t long before Rohan was a hop, skip and a jump away from scoring when he headed for the line Sam Tomkins esk, and danced his way around the defenders to record a try of his own. Orrell did head for the opposite end and Judes are pulled for holding back, but fantastic goal-line defence deny our opposition. Roman had really found his kicking boots second half and his vision to spot defenders missing at the back is superb, as he popped the ball over for Walshy to chase and it bounced up perfectly for him to take on the fly and score under the sticks. It was Danny F’s turn to put boot to ball, again it was placed perfectly and the Orrell defender had to punch over the side line. From the resulting 10m restart, Judes were in the perfect position to take advantage and that’s what Luis did when he steamed onto the ball and crashed over under the sticks, to record his first of the season, this time converted by Rohan. We had really controlled the game second half and the kick of the game came from our maestro with the boot Roman, who put in a huge cross-field kick which was pin-point accurate to fall into Ethan’s arms and all he had to do is place it down. Roman finished off the game with another superb conversion to add to his tally, ending a tough game with a triumphant 38-12 win.

This was certainly a game of 2 halves, we really struggled first half defensively and weren’t good at executing our end of sets. Not sure what the team talk was at half time, but we came out a totally different team and took the game by the scruff of the neck, scoring 34 unanswered points. There were a few lads vying for man of the match, but today’s award went to Rohan who made a huge impact on the game with his breaks from dummy half and fierce footwork to play havoc with Orrell’s defence. Let’s keep this winning streak going lads!!

Sunday, 12 March 20238'sWigan BulldogsAwayNaA great morning of rugby over at bulldog parks saw St judes face a very spirited Bulldogs team.
Judes started strongly with some forceful running and very timely offloads.
In defence they tackled fiercely against some strong bulldog running.
A game of back and forth was a joy to watch. With some great forward momentum provided by Joe Lang and Dylan Jefferies Judes tested the Bulldogs defence at every opportunity. Patrick Kaaria and Daniel were solid in the middle which led to top tackler awards and lenny Hancock and Harry Schofield were weaving In and out of the Bulldogs defence crossing the line several times each.
A very fair draw was the result
Parents player of the match Harry Schofield
Top Tackler Daniel Gallagher/Patrick Kaaria
Opposition player Lenny Hancock

Sunday, 12 March 20238'sAshton BearsAway10-10Today the Under 8’s travelled to Ashton Bears ground to battle it out.

It was a windy day on the green today but that didn’t bother the Under 8’s. What a team we had out there. Joseph,,Bobby,Finlay P, Olly, Theo, Christian, George, Jaxon,Josh,Henry MB, and Zachary. These boys were ready to play a good game of Rugby!

What a start we had with lots of fantastic tackles by Josh, Bobby, Theo and Christian. Theo manages to score us another try with his super fast speed and tactical ability. Joseph finally finding his feet again after missing lots of training sessions and getting stuck back into it. Josh, Theo and Christian all score a try in the first quarter.

Second quarter and we have Henry MB on the pitch who does the biggest tackle in sure he’s ever done and stops the Bears going over the line. Christian again some outstanding tackles. Oliver S comes on and the pace on this young lad is outstanding he runs the full pitch and scores for the Jude’s. Bobby is again a machine and some of his tackles would put the professionals to shame.

3rd quarter and we swap around again and the boys all play exceptionally well. Jaxon does a massive tackle to stop the Bears scoring another try but keeps his head in the game as a little kerfuffle happens but he keeps his head down and goes again and again. Zachary does so well in getting some yards up the pitch but is caught just short of the try line. Finley P was a tackling machine today and was in every tackle with Josh and Christian that they possibly could be.

Final quarter and it’s neck and neck and the Jude’s are keeping their cool and keep pushing all through. It was a great game for the teams and lots of brilliant runs and tackles. Lots of fantastic hand offs from the Bears making it difficult for the Jude’s to keep them under wraps but we managed and we played so well.

Opposition man of match - Josh Lynch
Fischer’s player - Christian D
