Sunday, 7 May 202312's - GoldsNewton StormHome18-6Match report – Wigan St Judes U12’s Golds V Newton Storm. 07.05.2023
Judes welcomed Newton Storm down to the Meadow on a bright sunny morning.
Judes kicked off to Newton, a massive chase from the Judes boys, set for set with no score. Judes drew first blood inside the first few minutes as Henlea Baynham pushed his way through to score the first try of the game. Conversion made. Newton looked to respond instantly, going close only to knock on. Judes responded as Freddie Davies took a massive drive up the field to get the ball to Tommy Shaw who scored his first try of the day. Conversion made. Judes were to big in defence not allowing Newton up field and keeping them away from the try line. A quick pass from Cameron Riley took the ball out again to Tommy Shaw who nicely sprinted to the try line, scoring his second try of the day. Conversion made.
Half time Wigan St Judes 18 Newton Storm 0.
Second half kicked off and both teams made silly mistakes, Judes picking the ball up from a lose carry made their way up the field but unsuccessfully getting any points. Newton fought hard to get to their line, Newton passed the ball, Henlea Baynham intercepting only for the referee to blow his whistle for offside, Newton getting the penalty, but Judes were massive in defence getting the Newton player into touch. Newton had certainly stepped up their game, as there was no way through for our Judes boys. Newtons next play of the ball saw them get a couple of penalties in the set from a ripped ball and then offside, this helped Newton get down field and score a try in the corner. Conversion missed.
As full time approached Judes worked hard to keep the Newton team away from the line, but the same with Newton, they kept Judes from scoring anymore points.
Full time score Wigan St Judes 18
Newton Storm 4.
A big game for both sides today as it is like a derby between these two teams, but a brilliant game of Rugby League to watch. Well done to both teams.

Sunday, 7 May 202311's - GoldsOrrell St JamesHome18 - 6We had a slow start with both teams giving away failing to complete sets. Golds saw themselves conseed just before half time. After an encouraging talk from the coaches Golds upped their game, it didn't take long before Jacob Daven went over the line to make it equal. With a strong defence we kept Orrell away from their try line with Rhys Hilton and Isaac Atherton going over ours and cementing the win for Golds.

Sunday, 7 May 202310's - GoldsGolborne ParksideHome-We welcomed Golborne Parkside down to Parsons Meadow for our first match against them this morning.

The first half was a very close encounter. Judes forced a number of turnovers with strong defence and kept knocking on the door for a try but we came up against a resilient Parkside defence.

Both sides continued set for set until late in the half when Parkside broke the deadlock with a good effort, which was converted, taking the lead into the break.

We started the second half with an excellent kick off from Zaine, which led to an immediate turnover back to Judes after a knock on.

The second half continued in competitive fashion with great play from teams, Parkside extending the lead with a try that wasn't converted. Judes got back in the game with a powerful run from Joey forcing himself over for a try, which was converted.

Judes continued grafting away to try and get level with our visitors but couldn't break through a fast and strong defence. Parkside later extended their lead with another converted try before grabbing another effort just before full time.

Our kids got great feedback from the opposition coaches at the end for their effort and endeavour today and should be really proud of themselves.

A special mention goes to Bailey, who played his first ever match today after a few weeks training with us. He played really well!

Up the Judes!
Sunday, 7 May 202316'sOrrell St JamesAway21 - 0St Judes travelled to local rivals Orrell with a threadbare squad of 14 including debutant Ellis Peers & young Ty Roberts stepping up.from the 15s due to injuries and boy did they step up!
From the very first kick to the final whistle judes dominated every aspect of the game skill, aggression, discipline Judes simply had a point to prove and prove it they did ,tries from Bradley Birch, Connor Roberts and a 1st club try for Connor Hall plus a sneaky drop goal from Nathan stafford gave a well-deserved 21-0 victory
Every player was outstanding and could of claimed man of the match, the opposition chose Jaiden Drachenberg, home coaches agreeing on Nathan Stafford
