Sunday, 30 April 20237'sGolborneAway0-0For the U7's this week it was Goldborne away, against the another team that was undefeated this season. As expected the U7's played in two very close games needing their best defence and some superb tries against another good team.

In game one the U7's got of to a slow start by their usually high standards and found themselves in a bit of trouble at half time. But this is when the boys really dug in with some superb defence and great individual tries, with it coming right down to the last set. Well done boys!!

Tries in this game coming from Archie B, Thomas S, Noah H, Zac S and Thomas W. With a great all around performance Thomas S. took home Opposition Player of the Match and Coaches Awards going Zac S. and Charlie D. who also had great games.

In game two, although another close game, WSJ were always in control with some strong defence and again great individual tries against a strong Goldborne side. The boys played great as a team and everybody stood up and played their part in a fiercely competitive game. Superb effort boys!!

Tries in this game coming from Teddie T, Teddy R, Harry S and Owen F. With the performance of the season so far, Harry S took home Opposition Player of the Match and a Coaches Award and a second Coaches award to Owen F. with some trademark crunching tackles.

In the last two weeks the U7's have been involved in their two toughest games by far, with every player really showing their progression and the team showing together how strong we are and why we are the team to beat ;)

All of the Coaches would like to say a big thank you to the boys for their efforts in the matches and training and how proud we are of their attitude and togetherness. Well Done boys your hard work is really paying off!! UTJ!!

Sunday, 30 April 202318'sBlackbrook RoyalsHome12-32Shocking weather for our game today, we were down on numbers through injury, even losing our Fullback in the pre-match warm up! That was just the start of our injury woes and being down to one sub, we had to do it tough.

Having to quickly re-group positions threw Judes off and Blackbrook were 10 points up before Judes fully got themselves into the game. Judes fought well to get themselves back into the game, but we just couldn’t get any luck in the first half, with a few decisions going against us and Blackbrook were 16-0 up by half time.

By half time, we had niggles galore throughout the team and were like the walking wounded! Second half started and Blackbrook delivered another blow by scoring in the very first set. Judes had to find that little spark in attack to drag themselves back into the game and we did when Rohan did what he’s great at sniffing out a gap to shoot through and good back-up from Calum took the ball and ran off under the sticks to rack up our first points. Judes were on a roll and were soon backing up with another great break by Calum who steamed through, he was grabbed just short, but put in a superb off-load to Oliver who was on-hand to take the ball and dive over the line to add another, both converted by Roman. Unfortunately Royals soon snuffed out our excitement by adding another 6 points to their own tally. Can’t fault the lads for effort, every player ran hard and really put their bodies on the line, most having to play the full game due to lack of interchanges. Surprising how Blackbrook were the team who were getting frustrated and ended up having a player in the bin. Royals did finish the game with a try when they were back to the full complement, ending a tough day at the office 32-12.

Judes were shot to pieces today, so proud of how they still pulled their kit on and faced the team at the top of the ladder. What an effort from the lads, battling their opponents, their injuries and the weather! We don’t like to single players out, but Sean had an outstanding game today, our opponents chose Sam as Man of the Match, who really put a shift in, battling hard against the defensive line and grafted throughout the game. The coaches thought Calum was also impressive and lead from the front , awarding him the Coaches Man of the Match award. Well Done lads, not easy to take a loss, but we have a couple of weeks off now to fix up and go again.
Sunday, 30 April 202316'sStanningleyHome26 - 4St Judes finally got to play their much anticipated Barla cup quarter final with Stanningley the travelling opponents. It seems the weather waited for this game too after a nice week a constant downpour was in store .
This didn't phase a determined Judes side though who produced a near perfect 1st half performance blasting into a 20-0 lead with tries from Jaiden Drachenberg, Deecan Snape (2) and Brad Birch, 2 converted by Snape
The 2nd half was solid if a little less impressive with Judes unfortunately allowing the away side to spoil a bit more before putting the game to bed with a Kian Stanton try again converted by Snape. Stanningley got a consolation try with the last touch of the game leaving a bitter taste but Judes sailing through to the Semi Final 26-4
Sunday, 30 April 202311's - MaroonsRochdale MayfiedHome26-22
Jude’s welcomed Rochdale Mayfield to a rain soaked Parsons Meadow in what was an outstanding game from start to finish.

The match was very evenly matched with both sides each leading on more than one occasion throughout the game.

Jude’s took the lead with tries from Ethan Cozens and a first ever try for a Hendre Pretorius. Mayfield equalised just before the half time break with the scores settled at 10-10.

In the second half, Mayfield went in front but two excellent solo tries from Sam
Charnock and Kian Halliwell but Jude’s back in the lead.

Mayfield though would not go away and levelled the scores at 22-22 with around 10 minutes to go.

The game breaking moment saw Tommy Gleeson go in for a brilliant solo try, giving Jude’s a slender 4 point lead. The last 5 minutes saw Jude’s constantly under attack on their own line for what seemed an eternity. Hendre Pretorius came up with 2 try saving tackles that gave Jude’s the victory. Brilliant game and a great performance.
Other notable standout performers were Jack Needham and Kian Halliwell who just never stopped taking the team forward

Sunday, 30 April 202311's - GoldsThatto HeathAway32 - 0It was a very wet start to today as we travelled to play Thatto Heath.
The team were aware that the wet conditions meant that we needed to change the way we play and to be more cautious.
We concentrated on the defence work we had been doing at training and it really paid off and resulted in us keeping a clean sheet.

Sunday, 30 April 202310's - GoldsBurtonwood BulldogsAwayX XWe made the trip over to Burtonwood this morning for our first match against the Bulldogs.

The weather proved to be a great advert for summer rugby with rain falling at the start, in spells for both halves and at the end as well! The conditions proved challenging for both teams throughout.

Judes kicked off with a great ball from Sam, which led to an immediate knock on, turning over possession straight away.

After some early exchanges, Burtonwood opened the scoring, with a perfectly weighted high kick catching out the Judes defence for a good try from our opponents, the try wasn't converted.

Ronnie got us back in the game with a great try, which he converted before Burtonwood regained the lead with a converted try.

A few burst noses for Fin and Harrison and an injury to Ronnie broke the game up before some great invention from Sam got the ball out to Jacob for a great effort, which he converted for Judes to take the lead.

Harry H extended the lead with a great try, which Archie converted. This was followed up by a fine solo effort from Sam, which he also converted.

The second half continued in the same manner with strong tackling displays from Zaine, Logan and Elliot keeping the Bulldogs out along with try saving tackles from George and Jacob.

We had another great try from Ronnie, which Oscar converted and an excellent effort from Zaine, which wasn't converted. Burtonwood grabbed two tries in the second half and converted one.

A top effort from all our kids in tough conditions today, sticking together and having each others backs throughout.
