The Maroon and Golds got back to winning ways at the Meadow with a solid controlled win against a good Askam side, Ben Fisher, Gary McMahon and Danny Clayton at the heart of the 36-26 win. From the onset Judes drive to win the match was there for all to see. On 3 mins a Gary McMahon kick downfield set up an attack on the Askam 25 and a sweeping move from left to right found Paul Pendlebury who put Ben Jones in at the corner, Ben Fisher goaled. Mins later lively hooker Danny Clayton found Paul Pendlebury who shot in under the posts, Fisher goaled 12 nil to Judes. Askam then had a 20 min spell of very good rugby were they managed to get over twice and draw level 12 all. Judes Forwards Daz Ball, Luke Barrett, Danny Fallon, Dave Fagan, Leon Harber and Declan Hidden were all busy Ball carriers as Fisher And McMahon guided them around the field. With half time approaching Judes regained possession near the visitors line and smart thinking Gary McMahons kick through rebounded into the hands of Declan Hidden who dove over on the right to score a great try. And Right on the stroke of half time flying winger Joey Brady broke away on the left just inside his half, put in a neat grubber kick re gathered at pace and scored in the corner for a spectacular try and Judes went in 20-12 at the turnaround. The second half was all St Judes restricting Askam to only one score and Judes had Askam on the ropes and they new it as another sweeping move from left to right found Joey Brady who scored, Fisher goaled. A Baz Rothwell’s jinking run set up Judes next when Ben Fishers neat inside ball to Paul Pendlebury who scored by the posts, Fisher did the rest with the boot. Judes final score went to Sponsors Man of the Match Ben Jones went on a weaving, side stepping run to score a great try in the corner to complete the scoring as Judes ran out 36-26 winners.
