As games go it wasn’t the best to watch but boy o boy the two points came in handy for Judes as they keep the pressure on at the top of the league with a 50-20 win against already relegated Salford City Roosters at the Meadow. Jude’s opened the scoring on 3 mins when Full Back Nathan Jones broke free and went on a customary side stepping run up the field were Daz Ball carried the break on and found Paul Pendlebury who darted in for the opening try. Salford hit back minutes later when a mistake by Jude’s was punished with a barge over try from close range. Jude’s forwards Luke Barrett, Oly Oladele, Tom Owen, Nathan Bevan, Tye Forde and Curtis Berry were full of energy and eager to cart the ball up when needed and it was Berry who got on the score sheet next when close to the line he hit and spun over for the first of his two tries. Mins later great work by Baz Rothwell and Dean Hunt, as Hunts clever kick through forced a drop out from Salford were the dangerous Full Back Nathan Jones danced his way in for a cracking try. This was quickly followed by another Dean Hunt involvement when hard working prop Oly Oladele showed a turn of pace to weave his way over for a try, Hunt goaled. Right on the stroke of half time Salford once again close to the line managed to crash over, just like their first try and the 20-10 to Judes looked a bit shaky. The second half was a bit nerve at first especially when Salford scored the first try, from once again a Jude’s error and just like Salfords other tries close range and a barge over. This triggered the Judes into action and the wily duo of Paul Pendlebury and Dean Hunt started to guide the team around the field eloquently breaking up the minimum momentum Salford had. Pendlebury, Hunt and Gavin Rodden found Ashley Marshall, were his pace did the rest for a great try wide out. Once again  Bevan , Pendlebury and Hunts pass put the winger Ashley Marshall away for his second try. Jude’s looked energetic with the ball non more so than Connor Parkinson and Daz Ball who both had great games. Tom Owen was next to score when a Gavin Rodden pass put the big prop away for him to score, Hunt slotted over the two. Tries were coming thick and fast now and Jude’s young prop Curtis Berry crashed over, after Baz Rothwell was tackled inches short of the line. Jude’s final try was good to see when Brett Taberner coming in late to the side scored a try by the posts, Hunt added the two. Salford had the final say when just like the the other tries close to the line easily got over to score. The final score of 50-20 was a bit  worrying especially when all of Salfords tries were from close range, were the  line Defence was very poor and against the stronger opposition we must tighten up the line D
